HEGENSCHEIDT DH45 CNC lathe-broach was manufactured in 2001 by HEGENSCHEIDT-MFD GmbH & CO. KG in Germany. The machine is a specialist machine tool for machining metals. Controlled by the SIEMENS Sinumerik CNC controller, it processes the diameters of the main bearings of the crankshafts with a length of approx. 406 mm. By means of the loading portal, the untreated crankshaft is lifted and inserted into the machine, where clamping chucks grab the workpiece and start machining. The machining begins with cutting inserts for roughing, which, as the machining progresses, are replaced by indexable inserts for finishing. When the process is complete, the clamps open and are blown clean with compressed air. The loading hatch opens and the machine is unloaded via the loading portal. Thanks to the connection of the machine with the loading portal, the machining process is fully automatic. The lathe-broach is enclosed in a protective casing that protects the personnel and prevents chips from escaping from the working chamber. The total weight of the machine with all its accessories is approx. 7100 kg.
