Plunging rolls: The thread rolling tools, with the same pitch as the workpiece, form the thread by penetrating the workpiece to the nominal diameter.
The maximum thread length is as long as the rolling tools are wide.
Continuous rolling: When the thread length is greater than the rolling tool width.
Continuous tools have three sections: the inlet, the calibration section, and the outlet.
Grooved rolls have no pitch and are pivoted at the pitch angle of the profile to be rolled.
Pitch rolls differ from grooved rolls in that they have a pitch in the profile.
The sum of the pitch angle and the pivot angle determines the pitch angle in the workpiece.
