Ingersoll HB12 Horizontal Boring Mill 6 Axis

Ingersoll HB12 Horizontal Boring Mill 6 Axis

Machine Overview
This machine is a 6-axis, CNC controlled, single head, Horizontal Boring Machining center, with a 75-HP spindle motor.

X-axis: Traveling Column
Y-axis: Saddle
Z-axis: Bar
W-axis: Ram
V-axis: Table Slide
B-axis: Rotary Table

Axis Travels
The total programmable axes travels in inch and metric dimensions are shown below:

X-axis: 13500 mm / 531.5 in
Y-axis: 4750 mm / 187.0 in
Z-axis: 1000 mm / 39.4 in
W-axis: 1000 mm / 39.4 in
V-axis: 2000 mm / 78.8 in
B-axis: 360 Degree Continuous

Table Description
With a capacity of holding a 50 ton workpiece this 3 meter rotary table and slide allows the part to be positioned in any orientation for machining.

Spindle Capacity
The 60KW, 75HP, 3400 rpm spindle motor will deliver a minimum of 75HP using 3 separate gear ranges as described below:

High: 53-1075 rpm (486 BSpd)
Med: 19-498 rpm (169 BSpd)
Low: 7-190 rpm (64 BSpd)

Bar Capacity
The 180mm quill utilizes a CAT50 tool taper adaptor with a hydraulic gripper for securing the tools. The spindle face also supports bolt on tools for larger capacities.

Control System
The machine is currently controlled by a Siemens 840c CNC. However, we would recommend it be retrofitted with either a Fanuc 31i or Siemens 840D CNC before the machine is installed. Replacement of the existing system is the best way to ensure machine production for multiple decades. The Siemens/Fanuc platforms provide a single control architecture for discrete I/O, drives, motion and process control systems. Although these are our controls of choice, we do have experience in a wide variety of CNC systems. If this or another control system is desired, we can quote it upon request. That way, the machine can be customized to your requirements.

External Scales
The Closed Loop operation of the machine is achieved using Heidenhain \ Inductosyn external scales. Transfer errors from the mechanics are detected by the linear and rotary encoders and corrected by the CNC resulting in a very accurate machine.

Optional Equipment
The existing machine has everything described above but can also be equipped with the following features:

Stationary Floorplate
Rotary Indexer
Spindle Attachments

Mechanical Condition
The machine has been very well maintained and was in production until December 2018 when it was disassembled and shipped back to us.
