Description
The King 84″ Vertical Turret Lathe is a heavy-duty CNC vertical turning and boring machine that underwent a comprehensive retrofit in 2015, transforming it into a modern high-performance machining center for large-scale turning operations. The machine is equipped with the advanced Fagor 8065 TC CNC control system, specifically configured for large vertical turret lathe applications.
Featuring a massive 90-inch (2,286 mm) 4-jaw independent chuck, up to 94-inch swing clearance, and 72-inch (1,829 mm) clearance under the rail, this machine is ideally suited for machining large rings, flanges, pressure vessels, wind-energy components, mining equipment, and heavy industrial parts.
The retrofit included a complete modernization of the machine’s drive system with Fagor Alpha/FM7 AC servo drives, a high-capacity Fagor FM7-A075 spindle motor, and a high-torque ball-screw feed system. The direct-drive architecture replaced older mechanical transmission systems, providing smooth, infinitely variable spindle speed control directly from the CNC.
