Alfa Laval Sigma Series Olive Oil Decanter Centrifuges
The Alfa Laval Sigma Series consists of high-performance decanter centrifuges specifically engineered for two-phase olive oil extraction. Designed for both primary and secondary extraction stages (re-milling), Sigma decanters maximize oil recovery while preserving oil quality by preventing temperature increases during the separation process.
Applications
- Two-phase olive oil extraction
- Olive oil clarification
- Oil recovery and extraction
- Dewatering of olive paste
- Small, medium, and large-scale olive oil mills
The Sigma range includes Sigma 6, Sigma 8, Sigma 9, and Sigma 10, covering production requirements from small family-operated olive mills to large industrial processing facilities.
Working Principle
Olive paste enters the decanter through a stationary feed tube and is accelerated by an inlet rotor before entering the rotating bowl. Centrifugal force separates the olive paste into oil and wet solids. The oil migrates toward the liquid phase while solids settle against the bowl wall. A screw conveyor rotating at a differential speed transports solids toward the discharge ports while oil is continuously collected and discharged through dedicated outlets.
