What is Turning Operation?

Turning is a machining process in which a cutting tool, typically a non-rotary tool bit, describes a helix toolpath by moving more or less linearly while the workpiece rotates. The tool typically moves axially, along the z-axis, but can also make lateral movements, in the x or y-axis. The result is the cutting of material from the workpiece, creating a cylindrical shape. This operation performed on Lathe Machine. The operation performed on Lathe machine are called turning operation.
