WABASH MPI 2254S-36-CLX Heated Platen Press 225 Ton

WABASH MPI 2254S-36-CLX Heated Platen Press 225 Ton
This press was purchased originally for some sort of rubber molding and experimentation.
They shut the facility from what I understand and sold the press to a reseller I later purchased it.
I had them remove 3 of the 5 platens and add about 20x 1/2-13, threaded mounting holes to each remaining platen. Once received the press now We disconnected the steam heating that was used by first owner and added a new 45kW, Sterling Oil Heater and the appropriate plumbing. This Oil heater is like no other as it was custom built to support continuous duty of 650F. Most only do 350F max temperature. This requires that you run nitrogen continuously through the supplied orange line with regulator you will see attached to the heater. Be warned, this is not something to mess around without nitrogen while operating, even if its in a cool down cycle.

This is a very special press that was configured for composite molding. We still have the other three platens with additional hydraulic levelers.

The press is also equipped with a transducer/strain-gauge/aka load-cell. between the large hydraulic cylinder and the lower platen. This is connected to a controller in the top of the control panel that allows for precise adjustment of the pressure to +/- 1 psi.

There is two hydraulic servo stabilizers, one on each side of the main 225T cylinder. This helps balance the pressure should you have any asymmetry in your mold.

Everything works to the best of our knowledge, there are no leaks, no unusual noises, no functions that don’t work other than the ones we disabled on the other three platens. It comes with tons of extras and you are welcome to come look at the press under power and learn how to operate it.
