The 273A Universal Internal Grinder is recognized as the benchmark for performance in both single-part and job-lot production. While its primary function is bore grinding, its versatile design also makes it suitable for external, face, and some rotary surface grinding.
The machine features frictionless hydrostatic ways under both the table and cross slide, ensuring smooth, accurate, and long-lasting operation. Combined with the superior dampening characteristics of a cast iron base, it can produce high-quality work with very close tolerances.
The 273A can handle a wide range of workpieces, from the smallest up to those requiring a 20” swing or weighing up to 1,000 lbs. The table offers 20” of travel, allowing for a 16” grinding stroke. The wheelhead cross slide has a travel of 1-1/2”, with an automatic feed via the hydraulic feed box of 0.050”. The wheelslide feed increments, on diameter, range from 0.0001” to 0.0006”. The workhead has a total adjustment range of 10” to the front and 7-1/2” to the rear.
